The
Volusia County Metropolitan Planning Organization's (MPO) 1997 Level of
Service Map Book has been developed and produced as a source of
information for planners, city and county staff, state transportation
officials, and the general public. This book is divided into two areas:
the first being the maps and the second being the data associated with
the maps. The data for the maps was derived from the following
documents: Volusia County's Traffic Engineering Department's 1997
Average Daily Traffic On State Roads in Volusia County and the 1997
Traffic Counts for Volusia County Thoroughfare and Other Roads.
Letters "A" through "F" represent the Level of Service (LOS), with "A"
representing the most favorable conditions and "F" representing the
least favorable conditions. The LOS reflects the quality of flow as
measured by a scale of driver satisfaction. The LOS concept is
generally applied throughout the United States as a qualitative
assessment of road users' perceptions of roadway quality of flow.
Every effort has been made to make the 1997 Level of Service Map Book
as accurate as possible. Any errors of omission or commission may be
brought to the attention of the Staff of the MPO. Every effort will be
made to incorporate any and all corrections into future editions of
this book.
