Data collection included accident reports for collisions at the intersection for the years 1998, 1999, 2000 and through August of 2001. Crash summaries and collision diagrams for each year for which data was collected. The long queues experienced by motorists at the intersection certainly contribute to the magnitude of this type of crash. The intersection ranked 14th in 1999 and 18th in 2000 in highest number of crashes among City of Jacksonville intersections. Atlantic Boulevard from Bartram Road to Mill Creek Road was included on the Florida Department of Transportation's "High Crash Segments List." In addition, 2001 saw a sharp increase in the number of crashes.
